Rutherford County Farmers Market We believe that food is a right, and that the ongoing viability of our local farms is of utmost importance, especially during these trying times. We intend to continue to adjust to the changes occurring in our country in order to give you the best opportunity to weather this catastrophe. Please have patience- this is a community effort that will require sacrifice from each of us, and we will continue to work diligently to support our local farms and local community in the upcoming weeks and months. We believe that your success is more important than ever, and that without a thriving local food economy we are all at greater risk. Thank you for your hard work, diligence, and perseverance.

Winter Market Plan–COVID-19:

After meeting with the Rutherford BARN Board of Directors, and key advisors, we have made needed adjustments to our upcoming market:
The Winter Farmers Market will be held as scheduled on March 21st, 2020, from 8am until 12pm with a number of very important changes:
Your safety is our #1 Priority. Every vendor is following regular safety precautions as well as added precautions like individually wrapping items, using only plastic tablecloths, having one person handle money and another for handling the food, among others. Sanitizing regularly.

Meats, dairy, produce, breads, and soap will be available for sale. Only vendors selling essential staples such as those stated above are allowed to participate in the market until further notice. This allows us to limit the number of people on hand to a manageable number.

The Market will be held outside on 2nd Street in Rutherfordton. 2nd Street is a one-way street and runs next to the courthouse from N. Washington Street to Main Street. Enter from Central St. or N. Washington Street.

It will be a drive through market only, and transactions will occur through the window of the customers' cars. Customers will stay in their vehicle and will be informed of details at the first table. Vendors will be spread throughout the length of the street for curbside service.
SNAP/EBT and Credit Card processing will occur at the first stop - the managers table. If using these forms of payment, please process your transaction at this time. Tokens do not expire. Some vendors will be able to process your credit/debit cards; a list of these details will be provided at the first stop.
We have adjusted our budget in order to DOUBLE SNAP purchases this week as a way to support our community. At this time, we have secured $300 in funds towards doubling SNAP purchases. This is on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to donate, please contact the Farmers Market Manager.
We will reevaluate weekly to determine the best course of action. Hope to see you Saturday and we value your support of our local farmers during this time of uncertainty.M
