Hiker Rescued from Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock, NC --  A charlotte man was hiking on Saturday and reproted missing after not returning home. He was rescued Sunday. Details below are from the Watauga County Rescue Squad Facebook.

Missing Hiker Safely Removed from the China Creek Trail

Search crews from Blowing Rock Fire & Rescue, along with mutual-aid agencies, successfully located and evacuated Mr. Frank Sanady, 67 years-of-age, Charlotte, NC, from the China Creek Trail area at 5:10 PM today.

Mr. Sanady entered the trail at approximately 12:00 PM on February 9, 2019, for a day hike. When Mr. Sanady did not return by early evening, Blowing Rock Emergency Services were notified and launched a search and recovery operation. Crews worked throughout the night attempting to locate Mr. Sanady. At approximately 11:30 AM today, Mr. Sanady, was located by searchers. Mr. Sanady was uninjured but very fatigued.
