French Broad River Body Identified as Madison County Resident
Woodfin -- Woodfin police released additional details regarding the investigation into the body that was discovered in the French Broad River over the weekend.
Detectives have collaborated with the Medical Examiner's Office to identify the individual as a Madison County resident 49-year-old Garren Keith Gentry. In mid-December 2024, Gentry's family reported him missing. Since then, detectives have been actively investigating the missing person's case, which has now evolved into a death probe.
Police believe Gentry has been dead and in the water for a while based on the body's state and the debris field's evaluation. There aren't any overt or immediate indications of foul activity at this time. To handle every lead, we will, nevertheless, keep working through the investigation process.
The last sighting of Gentry was in December 2024 on Union Road in Woodfin. He was dressed in trousers, a dark-colored hat, and a black sweatshirt. Gentry weighed 135 pounds, stood 5'11", had brown hair, and had multiple tattoos, such as a Tasmanian devil on his chest, an 8 ball on his left hand, and a rebel flag on his upper right arm. Please contact Woodfin detectives at 828-253-4887 if you know anything about Garren Gentry or his activities from early December to Sunday, May 4, 2025.
