BCSO Charges Woman with Assault on a Child

Buncombe County --  Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: Deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an assault on a juvenile on New Heights Drive on Wednesday, April 16.  

It is alleged that there was a misuse of pepper spray in the community, and as a result, Rhonda Hyder is charged with Assault on a Child Under 12 and Simple Assault.  

 Hyder was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a $3500 secured bond.

BCSO District 2 Captain Angie Tullis:  “Neighborhood disputes are not uncommon, but in rare circumstances they can result in a criminal offense occurring. Buncombe County offers mediation resources and BCSO is always available to respond and de-escalate verbal altercations before they become physical.”
