Asheville Police Arrest Man in 1999 Cold Case Statutory Rape

Asheville --  Special Victim Unit (SVU) Detectives at the Family Justice Center have arrested and charged Darnell Rex Young Jr. (09/16/1949) of Asheville with Statutory Rape of a Child. The arrest stems from a 1999 sexual assault cold case.

New information uncovered after a review of forensic evidence recently returned from the North Carolina State Lab led to the charges. Young was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center under a $100,000 secure bond.
