McDowell County --  The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 51-year-old William Paul Shelton Jr. with felony possession of methamphetamine.

He was denied bond due to being out on pretrial release.

On Thursday, March 13, detectives conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 70 West and discovered that Shelton, the driver of the vehicle, had an outstanding arrest warrant and was driving with a suspended license.

A search of his person by Detective Adam Burnette turned up a suspected amount of methamphetamine and pink pills.
Shelton was placed under arrest and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.

Editor's Note: A  criminal charge is an accusation, by law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven in a court of law.
