
Traffic Stop Leads in Rutherford County Leads to Drug Charges
Rutherford County -- Rutherford County Sheriff's Office: On March 4, 2025, investigators with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office A.C.E. Team were patrolling the Ellenboro Community when
they conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Ellenboro on a motorcycle for speeding. During the traffic stop, the driver admitted to being in possession of marijuana. During a search, investigators seized the following:
135.25 grams of methamphetamine
8.25 grams of marijuana
$761 in U.S. currency
As a result, the driver, Clyde Junior Owens, 53, of Forest City, was arrested and charged with the following:
Trafficking in methamphetamine
Maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance
Simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance
Owens was given a $50,000 secured bond.
