
Man Sentenced in Connention with Human Trafficking Investigation
Asheville -- March 7, 2025: District Attorney Todd Williams announced today that De’Markria Marquell Miller, 33, has been sentenced by
Superior Court Judge Alan Thornburg
to 21-35 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges.
Miller pleaded guilty to felony promoting prostitution, felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony attempted trafficking in fentanyl, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon.
Upon completion of his active sentence, Miller will be placed on supervised probation, which will be suspended for two years and served in his native South Carolina. If his probation is revoked, Miller will serve a second term of 21-35 months in custody.
Miller was apprehended in January 2024 as part of an ongoing investigation into a human trafficking operation in the Asheville area. The investigation was conducted by the Asheville Police Department with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
