Haywood County -- August 22, 2024: Haywood County NC Health and Human Services: As the summer starts to wind

down and the school year is underway, it’s important to prepare children for a healthy and successful experience in the classroom. It’s also a time where the rest of us can take control of our health and make healthy choices. Here are some tips to keep us all healthy this fall:  


Nutrition: Eating healthy is key to maintaining energy levels and focus throughout the day. Start with a nutritious breakfast and try your best to eat lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Mental Health Check: Be mindful of your mental health by taking time to relax, practice mindfulness, and stay connected with loved ones. Physical Activity: Regular physical activity is important for maintaining overall health and well-being. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. Find activities that get you moving that you enjoy and try and make this part of your regular routine!  

Hand Hygiene: Hand hygiene becomes more and more important as we head into cold and flu season. Wash your hands frequently, especially before eating, after using the restroom, and after coughing or sneezing. Make sure to carry hand sanitizer with you!
