Buncombe County -- March 6, 2024: The Buncombe County Emergency Management: 

Last week, members of NC Task Force 2 completed a two-week, long intense, hands-on Confined Space Training. 

This technical rescue course is 64 hours in length and presents the rescuers with unique challenges that could arise during a confined space rescue. Instructors from Asheville Fire Department led the training and scenarios which helped to certify additional rescuers who will join to serve Buncombe County and the State of North Carolina.


NC USAR Task Force 2 consists of highly qualified and certified firefighters from the Buncombe County Fire Departments and the Asheville Fire Department. This specialty team trains in Confined Space, Swiftwater, Structural Collapse, and different Incident support roles so that they maintain a constant state of readiness. This team trains hard so you don’t have to worry!
