WNC Entertainment --  This weekend, Western North Carolina is buzzing with a diverse array of events that celebrate the region's unique blend of mountain culture, arts, and natural beauty.

From vibrant festivals to live music and outdoor adventures, there's something for everyone to enjoy from Friday, August 8th, through Sunday, August 10th.

Festivals & Community Events

One of the weekend's highlights is the Sourwood Festival in downtown Black Mountain. This free street festival, running Saturday and Sunday, is a sweet celebration of sourwood honey and features over 200 vendors, live music, and plenty of family-friendly fun. It's a perfect opportunity to sample local treats, find handmade crafts, and soak up the small-town charm.

In Asheville, the RAD Art Market will be in full swing on Saturday, showcasing the incredible talent of local artists in the River Arts District. It's a great chance to explore open studios and connect with the creative community. For a taste of something a little more out-of-the-box, check out "The Big Wiener Party" at Bear's Smokehouse Barbecue on Saturday, an outrageous hot dog topping showdown with live music and comedy.

Concerts & Live Music

The music scene is thriving, with options ranging from high-energy dance parties to intimate folk performances.

Friday: The Saluda Top of the Grade Concert Series presents R. Shayne Floyd at McCreery Park Amphitheater. For a high-energy night, head to The Orange Peel for "Hot in Herre: 2000s Dance Party." The Grey Eagle will host Scott Miller for a night of soulful music.

Saturday: The free Shindig on the Green returns to Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville, featuring mountain bluegrass and clog dancing. The Beech Mountain Summer Concert Series is also happening, offering a fantastic lineup in the High Country.

Sunday: Don't miss Blackberry Smoke at Asheville Yards for a night of country-rock. The Orange Peel will be hosting its Sunday Afternoon Club with music from Big Fur.

Outdoor & Family Fun

The stunning landscape of Western North Carolina is the perfect backdrop for a weekend of outdoor exploration.

Hiking & Nature: Take a guided trail walk at The North Carolina Arboretum on Saturday morning. Consider a hike to the historic ruins of Rattlesnake Lodge for a scenic journey with a touch of local history. Goat Yoga is also available at Wilde Dairy Farm on Saturday, offering a uniquely fun way to get your stretch in.

Theater & Arts: The Hendersonville Theatre is presenting the Tony Award-winning musical comedy, "Something Rotten!" with shows all weekend. For some free outdoor theater, head to the Hazel Robinson Amphitheater for Shakespeare's "Cyrano de Bergerac." Art enthusiasts can also visit the American Folk Art & Framing gallery for an evening reception for their "The Ties That Bind" exhibition on Friday.
