Hendersonville Water and Sewer has scheduled smoke testing on September 11, 2024, in the areas of Beverly Hanks Center, Meredith Drive, Eastbury Drive, Dorset Court, Mount Royal Lane, Highland Avenue, Hyman Avenue, Crescent Avenue, Elizabeth Street, Regal Street, and Maiden Lane. The testing is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, weather permitting.
Customers in the area will be directly notified of the work using their water & sewer billing information. Questions may be directed to Hendersonville Water & Sewer at (828) 697-3073.
During the test, City crews will send non-toxic, white smoke designated for this type of testing into the sanitary sewer system by blowing the smoke into a manhole. The smoke should not enter homes or businesses unless the plumbing is not functioning properly, or it is a rarely used fixture. If smoke does enter a customer’s home or business, they are asked to open the window to allow ventilation, exit the building, and notify City personnel in the area. If customers have any doubts about the origin of the smoke, please call 911.
