Henderson County Environmental Programs is seeking volunteers for the 2024 Apple Festival on Main Street in Downtown Hendersonville. Apple Festival is one of the largest events in Henderson County. Help us to reduce waste by volunteering a couple of hours of your time. Waste reduction volunteers will help to educate visitors and monitor trash, recycle, and compost receptacles. These waste reduction efforts are not possible without the help of dedicated volunteers.
Dates: Friday, August 30th- Sunday, September 1st
Location: Main Street, Hendersonville
Shifts: 2-hour shifts or multiple back-to-back shifts
Supplies Needed: All volunteer supplies will be provided by Henderson County Environmental Programs

Shift Descriptions: The main volunteer goals are to monitor, manage, and educate visitors at the One-Stop Sorting Stations along Main Street near the food court to ensure festival-goers use the correct disposal bins for food, recycling, and trash. The food court is located at the southern end of the festival on Main Street in front of Wells Fargo Bank between Barnwell and Caswell St. Volunteers willing to sort through waste and reclaim food or recycling for proper bin disposal are greatly appreciated. Gloves and trash grabbers will be provided. Volunteers able to lift 20+ lbs. can remove full food waste bags and replace them with clean bags in bins.
