A stroke of remarkable luck, Jerry Hicks of Banner Elk, North Carolina, discovered a $20 bill lying in a convenience store parking lot.
That small find transformed into a life-changing fortune when he used the money to purchase a scratch-off lottery ticket, winning him a stunning $1 million prize.
Hicks, a retiree, found the bill on a casual trip to the store, never imagining it would lead to such a windfall. With a light-hearted approach, he bought a scratch-off ticket from the North Carolina Education Lottery's "100X The Cash" game.
Opting for the lump-sum payment, Hicks will receive approximately $600,000 after federal and state withholdings. When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, Hicks mentioned he hopes to use the funds to improve his home, travel, and help his family.
The highest amount available to win in the Extreme Cash game is $ million.
