Green infrastructure requires regular maintenance to keep it functioning optimally! Yesterday the Water Resources team went out to Southside Community Stormwater Project to rake leaves and remove smartweed from the regenerative stormwater conveyance. A regenerative stormwater conveyance, or rsc, is a fancy name for a constructed stream designed to slow the flow of stormwater, allowing sediment to settle out rather than being transported into the waterway. Removing invasive plants and leaf build-up allows these features to continue working as designed. We plan to host several volunteer workdays this spring and summer at the Southside Community Stormwater Project, so keep an eye on the RiverLink calendar and sign up to help us tend this beautiful space!...

The first Valle Crucis Butterfly Survey is happening tomorrow at 11am! NC Dept of Transportation: I 26 Closed Both Directions Exit 49B. Road Expected to Open 3 pm. North Carolina Department of Transportation is directing motorists to detour around Exit 49 B (US 64) due to a crash. DOT has posted they expect the road to reopen by 3:00 PM. Motorists are advised to use the following detour: West: Exit 49B (US 64 West), right on King St (US 25 BUS North) to I-26 West.
