Where is the London Bridge? Obvious answer, in london, right? Nope!
This has to fall under the category of "How Odd."
I was really surprised to learn that not only is London Bridge not in the city of London, but it's here in the United States. So, you might think it's most likely in a place that is well known, possibly a northern state? Or at least a state with well known bodies of water...maybe? Nope!
One of the last states I would think of is Arizona. Oh, Arizona, ok, what? Why?
Well, apparently a man with a lot fo money thought it would be a great idea. In 1967, London Bridge was sinking into the water. It was not built for cars, the weight and the amount of traffic was taking its toll on the bridge.
McCulloch Oil Corp. paid $2,240,000 for the bridge which would be relocated to a resort area on Lake Havasu, Arizona.
An Aricle Dated April 18, 1968 "Old London Bridge to move to Arizona"
'It will be rebuilt in its original form to span a mile-long channel on the edge of Lake Havasu, a resort development 240 miles east of Phoenix, Ariz., near the Arizona-California border. The deal marked the third American purchase of historic British mementoes -- first the liner Queen Mary by the city of Long Beach, Calif., and then the Queen Elizabeth by Philadelphia.'
