NC Forest Fires Update: The Poplar Drive Fire in Henderson County has reached 100% containment.

North Carolina State Parks: November 10, 2023 Due to increased fire risk, all backcountry campsites at 10 state parks in western North Carolina are closed effective today, November 10.

National Forests in NC -- November 9, 2023: The Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests are now restricting campfires to ensure public health and safety and to protect forest lands and nearby communities.

ALERT -- November 5, 2023: NC Environmental Quality Code ORANGE & Code RED Alerts remain in effect through tomorrow @ midnight for southwestern #ncwx, for fine particulates, due to smoke from ongoing fires.
