McDowell County --  Northern McDowell County is home to the rugged area Bee Rock Creek Fire, which is burning south of Wild Acres Road and north of Armstrong Creek Road.  

McDowell County --  Justin Trent Arrowood, 35, of Marion, was charged by the McDowell County Sheriff's Office with two charges of felony intimidation of a witness.  A $25,000 secured bond was given to him. 

Asheville -- Patrol officers from the Asheville Police Department are investigating a single-vehicle accident that happened this morning and left a pedestrian dead.

McDowell County --  Martha Elizabeth Fender, 54, of Marion, was charged with felony larceny by the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.  She was given a $1,000 secured bail.

McDowell County -- Evacuation Order Issued for Wild Acres Rd. due to Wildfire in McDowell County Little Switzerland, NC - McDowell County Emergency Management has issued an evacuation order for all residences on Wild Acres Rd. off of NC 226 A near Little Switzerland due to a rapidly growing wildfire.

Buncombe County --  Press Release Buncombe County Government: Starting Tuesday, April 22, Buncombe County Planning & Development will join Permits & Inspections, Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency, and Environmental Health in the new consolidated Government Services Center located at 35 Woodfin St. in downtown Asheville.

Asheville --  Special Victim Unit (SVU) Detectives at the Family Justice Center have arrested and charged Darnell Rex Young Jr. (09/16/1949) of Asheville with Statutory Rape of a Child. The arrest stems from a 1999 sexual assault cold case.

North Carolina -- In response to concerns following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson has launched the "Safe to Rebuild" initiative aimed at protecting Western North Carolina residents and businesses from scams and property crime during the rebuilding process.
