Clay County - Food stamps benefits are being declined at one Clay County grocery store, and management is blaming the issue on the partial government shutdown.

"There is a lot of people around here that's on food stamps," said Rachel Lynch.

The Miller's IGA, located at 6505 IN-59 in Clay City, which has been accepting EBT cards and food stamps for years, is now unable to accept this prominent payment method, according to management.

"Our machines weren't taking any EBT cards and we didn't really know what was going on. We didn't know if it was a technical issue. And then we found out it was due to the government shutting down," said IGA manager Tristen Malone.
