Drivers in Waynesville may soon be fined for revving motors or listening to loud music.

According to Waynesville police, authorities have received complaints about noise from residents, visitors, and business owners in the downtown area along Main Street. Because of the close proximity of the buildings along Main Street, loud automobiles, motorcycles, and music are extremely loud in the limited environment. With the number of calls that officers from the Waynesville Police Department have to respond to each day, we are asking the community to please assist us in controlling this issue so that we can continue to prioritize our law enforcement efforts on more serious criminal matters that require our officers' attention. Daytime/evening sound levels (between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.) may not exceed 60 dB(A).

Sec. 26-111. - Prohibited.
