Ongoing Homicide Investigation by Asheville Police
Asheville: April 25, 2023: Detectives with the Asheville Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division
are still looking for information in the homicide of a man who was discovered dead in a west Asheville area.
27-year-old On April 12, 2022, LaMichael Shawn Carter was shot and murdered. At 11:30 p.m., police discovered Carter in
the middle of Fairfax Avenue, already dead.
Asheville police detectives support Carter's family and are seeking information to help them receive justice and closure for their mother.
“If I could say anything to the community, it is to stop the gun violence and put down the guns. There is nothing worth taking a life over,” said Wendy, Mother of LaMichael.“I believe somebody out there knows something, and we are asking them to come forward. LaMichael had the biggest heart and was a loving son, brother, and father to a three-year-old boy, and our family wants closure.”
