Mars Hill Second-Degree Murder Charge in Cyclist Death
Asheville -- March 11, 2023: Following the hit-and-run that claimed the life of a cyclist, James Shearon,
a team of officers and detectives from the Asheville Police Department have located and charged a Mars Hill man.
Additional information indicated that the 2012 Honda Civic that struck Shearon, who was riding his bicycle around the
35 block of Grove Street, at roughly 5:05 p.m. on March 1, was driven by Calvin Tyler Dion (07/6/2001). Later, a
the Honda Civic was discovered in a nearby parking lot.
After the investigation was over and Calvin Tyler Dion cooperated with the State Medical Examiners' Office,
he was charged withr Felony Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, 2nd Degree Murder, Speeding, and Failure to Reduce Speed.
