NCDPS, Community Work Together to Make City Safer
Asheville -- March 5, 2023: In 2023, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS)
has been working closely with the city of Asheville to make the city safer for its residents.
Through various programs and efforts, the NCDPS has been able to tackle issues such as crime, emergency response times, and community engagement.
One of the key programs that the NCDPS has been implementing in Asheville is the Community Watch Program. This program encourages community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. By having an extra set of eyes and ears on the ground, law enforcement officials are better able to prevent crimes before they occur. The Community Watch Program also helps to build trust and relationships between law enforcement and the community.
Another important initiative is the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program. This program trains law enforcement officers to effectively respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. By providing officers with the tools and resources they need to de-escalate these situations, the CIT program helps to prevent unnecessary use of force and promote better outcomes for individuals in crisis.
The NCDPS has also been working to improve emergency response times in Asheville. Through the implementation of new technology and training programs, emergency responders are better equipped to handle a wide range of situations. This includes everything from natural disasters to medical emergencies. By improving response times, the NCDPS is helping to save lives and prevent further damage during critical situations.
Finally, the NCDPS has been focusing on community engagement and outreach in Asheville. By working closely with local community groups, law enforcement officials are better able to understand the unique challenges facing the community. This allows them to tailor their programs and initiatives to better meet the needs of local residents.
Overall, the efforts of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in collaboration with the city of Asheville are making a positive impact on the safety and wellbeing of residents. Through innovative programs and initiatives, the NCDPS is working with law enforcemtnt to build stronger, safer communities throughout the state.
