Asheville -- August 10, 2022: Tuesday morning, the McDowell County Sheriff's Office released information about a body 

recoverd at Curtis Creek.

In a secluded section of Curtis Creek in McDowell County, North Carolina, authorities discovered human remains on Monday afternoon. The body is thought to be that of 20-year-old Gabe Focaracci, who has been missing from the Asheville region since June 24th, according to detectives from the McDowell County Sheriff's Office. Around a mile from where his car was discovered on July 12th, deputies and rescue workers made the discovery in a steep and rough gully. This week, an autopsy will be performed.

The discovery was made by members of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, McDowell Emergency Management, North Carolina Emergency Management Mountain Rescue Team, McDowell EMS and members Randall’s Adventure Training Search and Rescue (RATSAR) out of Alabama.
