WASHINGTON, DC -- The flag returned to half-staff this afternoon and will now stay that way until after Senator John McCain's burial on Sunday, as is tradition.

The flag was only lowered to half-staff for a few hours after McCain's death on Saturday.

A statement was released this “Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Sen. John McCain’s service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment,” Mr. Trump said in a statement.
