RALEIGH -- PRESS RELEASE -- Governor Roy Cooper has nominated Judge Craig Croom to serve the state as a Special Superior Court judge.
“Judge Croom’s experiences in the courtroom and in law enforcement give him a thorough understanding of our justice system,” Gov. Cooper. “I appreciate his continued service to North Carolina and am confident that he is well qualified to serve in this role.”
In letters delivered last week, Gov. Cooper submitted Judge Croom’s nomination for confirmation by the General Assembly. He has been nominated to fill the vacancy created on March 6, 2018.
Judge Croom currently serves as a District Court Judge in Wake County. Previously, he served as an Administrative Law Judge, a Special Superior Court Judge, an Assistant District Attorney and a Wake County Sheriff’s Deputy. Judge Croom is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Central University School of Law.
By state statute, the General Assembly must confirm the nominee by joint resolution of both chambers.
