Asheville, NC -- Asheville Police Department: (9/25/2020): Detectives with the Asheville Police Department (APD) have continued to investigate

the circumstances of the April 3, 2020 murder of Adrian Smith and shooting of another victim in their residence in west Asheville.

Shanice Sheronda McDay, 28, of Asheville, was initially charged with one count of accessory after the fact to first degree murder and was extradited back to Asheville following her arrest in Connecticut in June.
Following the continued investigation, McDay was indicted by a Buncombe County grand jury for three additional counts of accessory after the fact to first degree murder. McDay was released from custody on the indictments on a $45,000 unsecured bond by the magistrate's office.
The APD is committed to devoting all of our resources toward combating and ultimately reducing violent crime within the Asheville community
