Asheville Police Investigate Shooting of Juvenile
Asheville -- Asheville Police Department: At approximately 8 p.m. on September 15 the Asheville Police Department (APD) responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Scott Street.
As officers were arriving on the scene, they received information that a victim had been shot. The victim, a juvenile, was found to have suffered five gunshot wounds and received medical care immediately from officers and emergency medical personnel. The victim's injuries are fortunately believed to be non-life threatening.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a fight began in Walton Street Park, and led to the victim being chased by a suspect onto Scott Street, where they were shot. Officers and detectives have identified a person of interest. The investigation is ongoing.
