Buncombe County --  Press Release Buncombe County Government: The National Weather Service forecasts severe thunderstorms

impacting our area Saturday night (March 15) into Sunday (March 16). 

Be prepared for:

Damaging winds up to 40 mph (50+ mph in higher elevations)
Large hail
Tornado risk – A strong tornado cannot be ruled out
Heavy rain & minor flooding – 1-3” of rain possible, with higher amounts in some areas
Wind Advisory Possible:
Mountains: Gusts of 35-50 mph, up to 55 mph above 3,500 ft
Elsewhere: Gusts of 30-40 mph
Plan Ahead:
Secure loose outdoor items
Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts (phone, NOAA radio, social media)
Prepare for potential power outagesAvoid flooded roadways – Turn Around, Don’t Drown
