Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision In South Asheville
Asheville -- Press Release: Asheville Police Department: The Asheville Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that
occurred Saturday afternoon in south Asheville, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.
Officers responded to the scene of the collision near the 1800 block of Hendersonville Road around 2:55 p.m. on February 8th. The preliminary investigation indicates a 1999 Kawasaki ZX600-G motorcycle, operated by Brandon Scott Owenby (02/05/81), was traveling north on Hendersonville Road when a 2021 Honda Pilot attempted to turn left from Gala Drive onto Hendersonville Road, colliding with the motorcycle. Owenby was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries; next of kin has been notified.
The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing. Upon completion of the investigation, the Asheville Police Department will consult with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.
