NC 52 Hike Challenge Jason Crisp and Maros Memorial 5K Hike
Join 52 Hike Challenge the North Carolina Chapter on a meaningful 5K mile hike on the Lake James State Park Mill's Creek Trail.
The hike commemorates the 10 years since US Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer Jason Crisp and his K9 "Maros" were slain while tracking a wanted fugitive in Burke County, NC.
When: Tuesday May 15, 2024. Check-in, introductions, and giveaways for ticket holders will be at 9:15 am, and the hike starts at 10 am. We will meet in the Visitor Center Parking Lot next to a 2015 White Hyundai Santa Fe.
Skill Level: Easy. Approximately 3.3 miles with 236 feet of elevation gain.
Be sure to wear adequate clothing, sunscreen, and plenty of water, snacks, and electrolytes. As always pack your 10 essentials for safety reasons! As always, we will follow the Leave No Trace Behind Guidelines.
