FOURTH ANNUAL FIRE TRUCK PULL AND HEALTH & SAFETY FAIR
TO BENEFIT TRAUMA INTERVENTION PROGRAM OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA (TIP) CO-SPONSORED BY ASHEVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND ASHEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Fourth Annual Fire Truck Pull and Health & Safety Fair, co-sponsored by Asheville Fire Department and Asheville Police Department, is a family-friendly fundraiser to benefit Trauma Intervention Program of Western North Carolina (TIP) to be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Tanger Asheville Outlets, 800 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC.
What is a fire truck pull? Exactly what it sounds like! Teams of up to twelve petipofwnc.orgople compete for the fastest time pulling a fully loaded fire truck 100 feet. Local police and fire personnel will be competing against teams from local businesses and gyms. Anyone can compete! The event will also feature a health and safety fair with educational demonstrations, vendors, music, games, raffle, and more.
TIP is a nonprofit organization that works with local public safety officials in Buncombe and Henderson counties to provide emotional and practical support of citizens experiencing trauma. Trained community volunteers are called by emergency personnel to provide support to those who have been affected by sudden tragedy, including scenes where there has been an overdose, a suicide, a fatal car accident, or a homicide, or other sudden loss. TIP volunteers are available 365 days per year, 24 hours a day, and can be called by any first responder with 48 agencies in the two counties.
TIP is well-known and respected by first responders in Western North Carolina. Asheville Police Chief Mike Lamb has said, “Asheville Police Department is grateful for the support of TIP Volunteers, and the compassion they bring to help people in difficult times. We encourage our officers to request a TIP volunteer any time someone at a scene needs immediate emotional support. These trained volunteers are professional and effective, available around the clock, and a valuable partner in APD’s efforts to support the community when tragedy strikes.”
