The driver of the president’s Lincoln limousine, with its top off, raced to nearby Parkland Memorial Hospital, but after being shot in the neck and head, Kennedy was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. He was 46 years old. A generation of Americans would forever remember where they were when they heard about the president’s assassination, as it would have a profound political and cultural impact on the nation.

On a personal note, I remember this date as it was 1 week before my sixth birthday. I can remember watching it on television. I remember the upset in our house, sadness. As the years went by, I learned what happened and understood why there was such sadness.
We didn't have constant information back then, 3 channels on t.v. which went off the air at midnight. But this incident was felt nationwide and world wide. No matter what your beliefs or opions were, this was such an assault on our country. This was something the media couldn't ignore. The average person was shocked and tears flowed.
It really was a day our nation felt a deep loss.
