APD Face Book -- Introducing APD's newly appointed Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning+ (LGBTQ+) Liaisons, Sergeant Melissa Lackey and Senior Police Officer Lindsay Rose!

APD is launching this new initiative as part of an effort to build relations with all of Asheville's communities and ensure that each is equally served and represented. Stay tuned for a meet and greet event next month, and get in touch at apdlgbtq@ashevillenc.gov.

A year ago, in October of 2018, APD launched a Community Liaison Program (CLP) in order to further our dedication to community engagement and community policing. The premise of the program is that working together with community groups, APD can better partner with residents to resolve neighborhood and community issues and have an impact on overall crime, thereby helping improve our community members' quality of life. The program launched with the identification of 15 neighborhood or community organizations and paired each with a designated sworn liaison. The LGBTQ+ liaison is an addition to the CLP. Liaisons meet regularly with community groups, form trusting relationships with members of these communities, and are a direct point of contact for community issues/concerns.
