Chatt Hills Music Olivette Riverside Pavilion First Concert Post Helene
Asheville -- After a challenging period of recovery, the beloved Olivette Riverside Pavilion is set to once again resonate with live music as Chatt Hills Music presents the acclaimed South Carolina Americana duo, Admiral Radio, on Sunday, July 20th, at 4 p.m.
This concert marks the first time Chatt Hills Music has hosted a show at the scenic riverside venue since it sustained significant flooding from Hurricane Helene last fall.
The Olivette Riverside Pavilion, located at 1069 Olivette Road, has been undergoing repairs, and while Chatt Hills founder Ron Simblist acknowledges it "doesn't quite look like it used to, but it will eventually," the return of music to its banks is a testament to the community's resilience and dedication to the arts.
Headlining this special event is Admiral Radio, comprised of the immensely talented husband and wife team, Coty Hoover and Becca Smith. Named after their old wooden radio, the duo is renowned for their heartfelt harmonies, compelling storytelling, and raw sincerity that defines their folk/Americana sound. Their music, rooted in tight vocal interplay and finely picked acoustic instruments, draws inspiration from the everyday, exploring life's lessons and the "dogged optimism" that carries us through.
Admiral Radio's talent has not gone unnoticed. They boast three independently-produced albums, with their latest, "Good Things Take Time" (2024), earning critical acclaim and national radio play. The duo has also received prestigious awards and honors in songwriting competitions across the country, including Kerrville NewFolk and the John Lennon Songwriting Competition. Audiences can expect an energetic and emotional live performance, as Admiral Radio has shared stages with such notable artists as bluegrass legend Del McCoury and folkgrass icon Molly Tuttle.
Chatt Hills Music, a non-profit organization active in Asheville since 2021, is committed to enriching the community through music and supporting original artists. They present a diverse range of genres, from Americana to jazz, always prioritizing unique voices and compositions. A core part of their mission is fostering music appreciation in children, which is why kids always receive free admission to their shows. Adult tickets for the Admiral Radio concert are $25 and can be purchased online.
Don't miss this opportunity to support local music, experience the captivating sounds of Admiral Radio, and celebrate the return of live performances to the beautiful Olivette Riverside Pavilion.
