More about Art in the Park
Art in the Park was created in 1962 by a handful of area artists and craftspeople to showcase local talent. Today, the event is host to dozens of fine art and handcraft vendors at each show. Some of the best local and regional artists and craftspeople showcase their handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fiber, glass, photography, painting and more.
Art in the Park’s high standards and professional jury attract artisans from all over the Southeast to exhibit in a series of six shows, May through October. The quality of work exhibited draws thousands to the area each month.
Art in the Park is planned and administered by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber takes pride in working to support and showcase top talent over a variety of mediums at each show. The town and area businesses are enthusiastic and participate with the festival and the public eagerly anticipates each season.

Music on Main is a beloved annual tradition in Weaverville, described as a free, open-air, one-night street concert and community festival. It transforms a section of South Main Street into a vibrant celebration, typically held on a Saturday evening in mid-June. For 2025, it's scheduled for Saturday, June 14th, usually running from the late afternoon (around 4:00 or 5:00 PM) until about 9:00 PM.
Location & Setup:
The event takes place right on South Main Street in front of Weaverville Town Hall (30 S. Main St). To accommodate the festival, Main Street is closed to traffic between Brown Street and Merrimon Avenue for several hours before, during, and after the event. The music stage is set up near Town Hall. Free parking is typically available nearby, often highlighted at Weaverville Primary School.
What's Happening:
Live Music: The main attraction is the music! Usually, three bands perform throughout the evening, featuring talented local and regional acts. Past genres have included a mix of Americana, folk, jam bands, rock, soul, Appalachian roots, and more, offering something for various tastes. Attendees often bring folding chairs or blankets to relax and enjoy the performances.
Food & Drink: Local food vendors set up shop, often in a designated "food court" area, offering various options for purchase. Beer and wine are typically sold as well. Many of the regular Main Street restaurants within the event area remain open, providing additional dining choices. In recent years, the event has sometimes operated as a "Social District," allowing attendees to buy alcoholic drinks from participating vendors/restaurants and carry them within the designated event boundaries (no outside alcohol permitted).
Kids' Zone: It's very family-friendly, featuring a dedicated Kids' Zone. Past activities have included things like face painting, bubbles, games (cornhole, ring toss), putt-putt, an inflatable bounce house, LEAF's mobile art bus (Easel Rider), and even visits from a fire truck.
Community Atmosphere: The event is known for its welcoming, bustling, small-town community vibe. It's organized by the Weaverville Business Association with town support and relies on local volunteers. Expect to see sponsor booths lining the street and neighbors mingling. It's a rain-or-shine event, so people come prepared to have a good time regardless of the weather!

This parade is our gift to the city, a zany, exuberant and irreverent downtown event in the dead of winter.
We invite residents to get together with friends, neighbors, and coworkers to create high-quality, surprising and entertaining entries, add upbeat music, and strut their stuff tossing those ubiquitous beads to the crowd. Zaniness, political satire, and amazing displays of populist art appreciated!
We love and respect our community, and Asheville is not Bourbon Street. Alcohol and nudity are not part of our twist on Mardi Gras in the mountains. We are promoting a fun, safe event for all ages – with a definite emphasis on FUN!

For over 31 years, the Frostbite Races have motivated runners and walkers to stay active throughout the colder winter months. Participants brave the chilly temperatures to compete in a series of races, including a challenging 10K, a scenic 5K, or 1-mile fun run. Flurry the Penguin is always encouraging runners and walkers with high fives. The Family Fun Day and Wellness Expo add to the excitement with local vendors, wellness services, live music, and kid’s activities. The Frostbite Races have become a beloved tradition in Fletcher, NC, bringing the community together for a day of fitness and fun.
All three courses begin and end at the Lelia Patterson Center in Fletcher, North Carolina. Both the 10k and 5k routes provide scenic views of Hutch Mountain and the surrounding area. The terrain is hilly with moderate inclines throughout. The 10K has a net elevation gain of 464 feet while the 5K has a gain if 257 feet. The one-mile fun run is completely flat and very easy for little runners. There will be two water stations on the 10k course and one on the 5k course. Because some roads will be open to traffic, we require that all children 12 and under be accompanied by a registered adult at all times.
