Waynesville Police Department
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of retired WPD Lieutenant Chuck Way. Lt. Way served this community for almost three decades with a deep commitment and heartfelt passion for this town. No one could question his love for the Town of Waynesville and the Police Department. After his retirement, you could count on three things when you saw him...encouragement, support, and this smile.
Our prayers are with his wife, mother, and family today and in the days ahead.
You will be missed Lt. Way!

Waynesville Public Art Spotlight: "Mountains to Sea" 🌊⛰️
ARTIST: Joseph Miller
MEDIUM: Steel
LOCATION: 135 N. Main Street
Installed in 2000, “Mountains to Sea” features floating steel forms resembling Portuguese Man-o-Wars, symbolizing the connection between the Appalachian Mountains and the Outer Banks along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Originally part of Waynesville’s rotating art installations, this piece has become a permanent fixture, celebrating our town’s early embrace of public art.
Next time you're strolling down Main Street, stop by and experience this beautiful tribute to the journey from the mountains to the sea!
