We Watch

We Watch

We watched as Italy sent their military in to pick up the bodies of the dead.
We watched as the number of dead went up in other countries.
We watched as people wore masks on the street.
We watched as people were ordered to say home.
We watched as they showed us empty streets.
We watched.
We watched as we were told it was a hoax.
We watched as we were told it would go away one day, like a miracle.
We watched as we were told the numbers were low and needed to stay low.
We watched as we were told we would told .... it's this one or that one's responsibility.
We watched as we were told not to point fingers or blame as fault was always found some place else.
We watched as we were told it's this bad because they weren't ready.
We watch as make shift hosptials are being built.
We watch as nurses cry out for help.
We watch as doctors join them in crying out for their patients.
We watch as these people fighting to save the dying are losing their own lives.
We watch as bodies are picked up by forklifts, placed in refrigerated trucks serving as temporary morgues.
We watch as each state is told to stay at home.
We watch as others wait too long to be told.
We watch as no help comes as pleas keep growing.
We watch as we are now the ones behind closed doors.
We watch as our streets are now empty.
We watch as there is no help coming.
We watch for this time to end, for hope for things to get better.
We watch....
