Clyde -- A fixture in downtown Clyde for over six decades, Sentelle's Seafood & Specialty Market has announced its upcoming closure, signaling the end of a remarkable family legacy built on bringing fresh seafood to the mountains.

The Sentelle family shared the news via social media, explaining that the decision, while "heart-wrenching," comes as they look towards retirement.

For over 60 years, Sentelle's, located at 8275 Carolina Blvd, successfully fulfilled that vision. It became a trusted "seafood hub," known not just locally but across Western North Carolina for overcoming the challenge of providing truly fresh, high-quality seafood far from the coast. Past reports highlighted offerings ranging from North Carolina flounder to Alaskan halibut and Maine lobster. The market expanded to include local gourmet food products, craft beer, and wine, solidifying its place as a specialty destination.

The deep connection to the community and the business itself was evident in the family's closing announcement. "Sentelle’s has been a lifelong journey for me and my family," they wrote. "We are looking forward to our next adventure, which is retirement... It was a heart wrenching decision and one we did not make lightly."
