It's Memorial Day, and for many of us, that means firing up the grill, maybe hitting the lake, or just enjoying an extra day off. And honestly, there's nothing wrong with that! We all deserve a break.

But as I sit here, thinking about the holiday, I can't help but feel that little tug – the reminder that Memorial Day is so much more than just the unofficial start of summer. It's a day to really, truly honor the brave men and women who never came home.

Think about it. Every single freedom we enjoy – the ability to gather with loved ones, to speak our minds, to choose our own path – it all came at an incredible cost. It was paid for by soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice. They put everything on the line, and tragically, they lost their lives defending the very ideals we get to live out every single day.

My own family has served, and while we've been lucky, I know so many who haven't been. That's why this day hits home for me. It's not about glorifying war, not at all. It's about recognizing the profound, heartbreaking sacrifice of individuals who believed in something bigger than themselves.

So, as you enjoy your day, however you spend it, I hope you'll take a moment. Maybe it's a quiet minute of reflection, a quick word of thanks, or even just telling a loved one about someone you know who served. Let's make sure their memory lives on, not just today, but always.

How are you honoring the spirit of Memorial Day today? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
