Mountain Moods

Mountain Moods “Through the smoke, the sun still rises—same as us.”

Because in These Hills, You Can Laugh, Cry, and Rebuild—All in a Day
The air's been thick lately in alot of places —with smoke, yes, but also grit and grace.
We've been through it: Hurricane Helene left her mark, and now wildfires edge closer than we'd like. Still, there's something you feel in these hills—a kind of stubborn peace, like the land knows it'll outlast the chaos.

I felt it this morning.

One minute I was sipping coffee and watching the sunrise split through the smoky haze, and the next my dog Daisy was chasing a squirrel. The squirrel won. The lawn chair lost. I laughed so hard I forgot the world was heavy for a moment.

That's the thing about life out here—it doesn't stop for drama. It hands you birdsong, burned toast, busted fences, and breathtaking views, all before 9 a.m.

"The mountains are calling—and they said bring a chainsaw."
— Some poor soul with a tree across their driveway

"Even the smoke can't hide a sunrise. It just makes it look like art."
— My Aunt Reba, over biscuits

"Hard times don't cancel mornings. They just make the coffee stronger."
— Me, probably

"No matter how smoky the sky or shaky the ground, there's still strength in these hills, warmth in these kitchens, and enough laughter to carry us through one more mountain morning."
