🎨 Asheville & Buncombe County
Asheville and the surrounding valleys have a little extra on the schedule this weekend, giving families and seniors plenty of options to explore local arts, history, and nature.
5th Annual Downtown Asheville Festival of the Arts: Stroll through Pack Square Park on Saturday and Sunday (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM). This free outdoor market features a craft marketplace with handmade jewelry, glasswork, sculptures, and paintings from local and national artists. It is highly walkable, flat, and perfect for art lovers of all generations.

Garden Jubilee: Downtown Hendersonville transforms into a gardener’s paradise on Saturday and Sunday. Main Street will be lined with more than 200 vendors, nurseries, and crafters selling annuals, perennials, handmade lawn furniture, and pottery. It is one of the largest gardening shows in WNC, complete with expert clinics to help you get your summer flower beds started.

Hickory Ridge Living History Museum Day (Boone): Step directly back into the 1700s on Saturday at the museum (located right by the Horn in the West grounds). 🚂 Jackson, Swain, & Macon Counties
Heading further west gives families a chance to experience the timeless beauty of the Great Smokies without the heavy downtown traffic.
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad (Bryson City): The historic railroad kicks off its full summer schedule this weekend. Families can hop on steam or diesel-powered trains for a scenic journey along the Tennessee and Tuckasegee Rivers, crossing historic trestles and winding through the gorges.
Bridge Park Family Days (Sylva): Downtown Sylva’s Bridge Park is the place to be on Saturday afternoon. The town is hosting family-focused activities, local food trucks, and craft booths right by the creek.
