Buncombe County -- July 12, 2026: Buncombe County authorities have publicly identified the woman found deceased along Old Mars Hill Highway as 45-year-old Teresa Annette Davis. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is conducting a death investigation into the incident, which occurred north of Weaverville near the Buncombe–Madison County line.
Davis's body was discovered by a passerby just before 7 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, near 795 Old Mars Hill Highway. The investigation remains active as authorities await the results of an autopsy. Investigators have also indicated they believe other individuals may have been present during the events leading up to Davis's death.
