The resorts leveraged a cold front that delivered a vital combination of below-freezing temperatures for snowmaking and a fresh blanket of natural snowfall to establish a critical early-season base. Both resorts are currently operating on Early Season Hours (typically 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM).
Sugar Mountain Resort
Opening Date: Tuesday, November 11th
Significance: Claimed title of the first East Coast opening for the season.
Initial Offering: 5 Trails and 2 Lifts open, including the Summit Express.
Activities Open: Skiing and Snowboarding.
Cataloochee Ski Area
Opening Date: Wednesday, November 12th
Significance: Kicked off its 62nd season in dramatic, early fashion.

Snow Tubing:
Cataloochee's Tube World: Will have a special early opening for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend (November 27th – 30th) before its full mid-December launch.
Sugar Mountain Tubing Park: Expected to open in early December.
Ice Skating and Snowshoeing (Sugar Mountain):
Sugar Mountain's 10,000-square-foot refrigerated outdoor Ice Skating Rink and Snowshoeing Guided Tours are typically available starting in late November/early December, completing the resort's robust outdoor offerings.
