Asheville Chamber of Commerce -- The regional job market is getting a major boost this month. The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that more than 100 local employers will gather for the WNC Career Expo on Thursday, April 16th.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WNC Agricultural Center’s Davis Event Center. Designed as a high-impact networking hub, the expo is free and open to the public, welcoming job seekers from every career stage—from entry-level candidates to seasoned professionals looking for a change.
A Gateway to Opportunity
“The WNC Career Expo is open to all job seekers – whether you are actively job searching, exploring new opportunities or seeking additional support to take your next step,” says Diana Blackett, Director of Workforce Partnerships at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce.
The expo isn't just about handing out resumes; it’s a comprehensive resource center. Attendees will have access to:
On-Site Interviews: Many participating employers will be conducting interviews right on the floor.
Resume Reviews & Support: Experts will be available to help sharpen resumes and offer interview preparation tips.
Specialized Resources: Support will be available for those facing employment barriers, including the Re-Entry Council (supporting those returning from incarceration) and Inclusive Hiring Partners (focused on closing the opportunity gap in Buncombe County).
Diverse Industries Represented
The roster of over 100 employers spans many sectors in Western North Carolina, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, and education. Major names currently slated to attend include:
Healthcare: Mission Health, AdventHealth, UNC Health Pardee, and MAHEC.
Manufacturing/Tech: Pratt & Whitney, Eaton, Kyocera International, and AvL Technologies.
Hospitality: Biltmore Estate, The Omni Grove Park Inn, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
Public Service: Buncombe County Government, Asheville City Schools, and the USPS.
