From Train Cars to River Views
The Whistle Hop team is no stranger to "doing the work." Their original Fairview taproom was famously built from two restored train cars—a project that required the collective expertise of their family of designers and engineers. They plan to bring that same hands-on grit to the new site.
"Thankfully, the work we’ve got ahead of us... doesn’t feel too overwhelming after having built our original taproom out of two train cars," the company shared in a recent update.
The new Chimney Rock location is described as a "blank slate" with massive potential, including:
A "Deck of Dreams": Plans for a brand-new elevated seating area.
Riverside Beer Garden: A spacious outdoor area designed for community gathering.
Modern Infrastructure: The existing building already boasts updated plumbing and electrical, allowing the team to focus on the aesthetic and guest experience.
A Mix of Old and New
Fans of the original Fairview location can expect the familiar whimsy that made Whistle Hop a staple of the WNC beer scene. The owners have hinted at a blend of "old Whistle Hop favorites"—such as outdoor games and railroad-themed decor—and entirely new concepts never before seen at their flagship spot.
As they begin the construction and design phase, the brewery is actively seeking input from the community, asking locals what they hope to see in the new space.
