The Incident
The collision reportedly occurred on a Friday afternoon in mid-February at the intersection of New Leicester Highway and Eliada Home Road. According to reports, a man in his twenties was reportedly riding a motorcycle southbound on New Leicester Highway. The driver, reportedly in their fifties, was driving a northbound vehicle that appeared to be a Toyota Prius. The motorcyclist was ejected and reportedly died at the scene.
New Leicester Highway was reportedly closed for a period of time while officials investigated, according to sources.
Legal Proceedings
A woman was reportedly charged in February with misdemeanor death by vehicle and an unsafe movement violation following a traffic incident. Sources indicate the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office may have consulted with the Asheville Police Department at some point during the investigation. Sources indicate an individual with Saylor's name was processed at the Buncombe County Detention Facility. Her bond was reportedly set at $5,000.
The charges stem from an investigation that reportedly indicated Saylor's left turn may have contributed to the crash. No additional factors were mentioned in initial reports.
