Weaverville, N.C. – Pickleball enthusiasts in the Greater Asheville area are anticipating the opening of a significant new facility, as Ballcrank Pickleball Club is now slated to debut by early October 2026, shifting slightly from its original late-summer target.
Located at 115 Reems Creek Road in Weaverville, the club will feature 12 state-of-the-art indoor courts, providing a much-needed dedicated space for year-round play.
The new complex is poised to become Greater Asheville’s first dedicated indoor pickleball facility, addressing a growing demand for climate-controlled courts and comprehensive amenities. The club will offer 12 indoor cushion courts, including six equipped with video-capture technology and two designed to professional standards. This development is expected to bring immediate excitement and relief to the local pickleball community, which has sought a large, dedicated indoor venue.
Beyond the courts, Ballcrank Pickleball Club plans to offer a range of amenities to enhance the player experience. These include a pro shop with paddle demos and gear, a bar and café area for food and beverages, and an outdoor patio. The facility will also provide showers and bathrooms for convenience.
Operating on a pay-as-you-play model, the club will also offer optional memberships. Memberships will provide benefits such as priority booking of courts and member pricing, welcoming players of all levels from beginners to advanced competitors. The club’s vision, led by co-founders Keith Davis, Randy Talley, Jim Curley, and Teri Lyng, aims to establish a blend of recreational and hospitality ventures.
The facility is an adaptive reuse project, transforming more than 30,000 square feet of the former Balcrank Corporation headquarters into the pickleball complex. The larger 132,000-square-foot building, now known as Ballcrank Arcade & Fairgrounds, is being redeveloped as a multi-use hub for recreation, food and beverage, art, and retail. This redevelopment is anticipated to become a significant economic driver for Weaverville and the surrounding area, drawing visitors with diverse interests.
