Canton -- August 18, 2026: wo people have died following a residential fire that broke out late last week off Henson Cove Road in Haywood County.
Authorities on Monday identified the victims as 72-year-old Beth Sain and 73-year-old Richard Queen.
Emergency crews from the Center Pigeon Fire Department and deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the home on Friday, Aug. 14. In a joint statement issued Monday, officials confirmed that both residents died as a result of the fire.
"Sadly, we can confirm that both residents of the home succumbed as a result of the fire. The fire has been determined to be accidental," the joint statement said.
No further details regarding the specific origin of the fire have been released
