When the North Carolina Highway Patrol made the initial stop, they learned that one of the people inside the car was wanted, they asked the Yancey County Sheriff's Office for assistance.
A K-9 unit from the Sheriff's Office was sent in when the deputies arrived. Drug paraphernalia, proof of numerous stolen identities, false paperwork, and counterfeit checks linked to multiple states were found during a search conducted with the help of sheriff's office detectives.
David Gary Teague, 67, of Jasper, Georgia, was arrested and charged with (16) counts of Forgery of Endorsement, (11) counts of Identity Theft, (2) counts of Possess 5 Counterfeit Instrument, and Possession Drug Paraphernalia. Teague is being held in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $1,000,500 bond.
Malik Jay Cisneros, 28, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested and charged with (16) counts of Forgery of Endorsement, (11) counts of Identity Theft, and (2) counts Possess 5 Counterfeit Instrument. Cisneros is being held in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 bond. Cisneros will face extradition for outstanding warrants in the state of Georgia.
